THE INADEQUACY OF LANGUAGE IN LIFE AFTER DEATH

SHORT FILM

After my mom died, running became where I found solace. I didn’t set out to make a film about grief, but I found myself returning to the connection between movement and mourning. Running offers us so many metaphors. It teaches us to move toward pain, not away from it. To find peace within the discomfort and push through it, knowing it won’t last forever. In that rhythm, I found a sense of endurance, clarity, and calm. My mom’s last words were “That’s so beautiful,” and I hear them in my mind every time I notice the light in the trees or feel the breeze on my skin. She’s still with me in those quiet moments, which I experience best when I’m out moving through nature. This film is a meditation on that space: where language fails but love, memory, and motion persist.
